Toucan Day Nursery offers a child contact centre which is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents and sometimes other family members.
Toucan Contact Centre aims to create a safe, warm and sociable atmosphere where parents and children can relax and enjoy themselves. We offer both ‘Supported’ contact and ‘Supervised’ contact, including ‘Hand-over’ so parent’s do not have to see each other if they do not want to.
The centre is based at Toucan Day Nursery in Hackney and has toys, games and books for children of all ages. Snacks and refreshments are also provided. Parents and their children will be invited to see the centre before their first arranged visit. This will help them get to know the Centre and the staff, making their first visit easier.
Toucan Contact Centre is run by trained volunteers and staff who are impartial and do not take sides. They have all been through an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check.
Session Information
Hours:
Monday – Friday: 10am – 6pm
Saturday: 10am – 5pm
Sunday: 10am – 4pm
Contact sessions outside normal opening hours may be available under special circumstances and subject to requests made in advance to the centre coordinator.

Referral Details
We accept self referrals for supported contact only. Referrals for Supervised contact must be completed by a professional involved such as a solicitor, social worker, family mediator etc.
Please contact Centre before making a referral to check availability – referral form & risk assessment must be completed prior to contact.

Parking restrictions apply Monday – Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm nearby on Kay Street and Monday-Friday, 7:30am-6:30pm and on Saturday’s, 7:30am-1:30pm on Teale Street. There are pay and display facilities located on Emma Street which is 3 minutes walking distance from the centre.
